CIS Code of Ethics

Founded in 1965, The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a global non-profit membership organization and the largest and most valid association related to international schools.

The purpose of the "CIS Code of Ethics" is to define the ethical principles on which CIS Members are expected to base their conduct and professional practice.

The purpose of CIS

  • To ensure that the school seeks excellence in all stages of education,
  • To ensure that the school offers a high quality education and curriculum in line with clearly defined targets and standards,
  • To enable the school community to discover its strengths and weaknesses for its continuous development,
  • To enable the school to compare with the world schools community and thus to test itself on a global level.

  • A CIS accredited school creates a favorable impression on individuals, educational institutions, and universities, both domestically and internationally, regarding its community,
  • The school's self-assessment report, meticulously prepared throughout the accreditation process, is a valuable contribution to its development,

  • This objective evaluation done by an institution outside the school generates many useful and constructive suggestions,
  • The accreditation process provides the school with the opportunity to communicate with other schools around the world,
